Look at Kellan GO!

My sister Holly and I spent the last two weeks of November down in Cardston with my Grandpa. I told Scott that Kellan was going to learn to climb the stairs while we were there and sure enough he did! He would climb them any time he could get near them so we had to block them off so he wouldn't start climbing without us!

Kellan's first Hallowe'en was pretty uneventful. We went and visited Scott at work and then in the evening stayed home and handed out candy. Here's some pics.

Also a crib update - Kellan is sleeping in his crib most nights. Lately he has been kind of needy because he's been teething so he's been spending some time in our bed. I am happy to only have to share my half of the bed with Sasha most nights!

Kellan in his Crib

So as I type this Kellan is sleeping in his crib. He started out his life sleeping in a bassinet that our good friends the Maynes lent us. One morning a couple of weeks ago I woke up to him with his head resting on the side of the bassinet so we made putting his crib up a priority and have been working the last couple of days on getting him to sleep in it. Who knew it would be so difficult? He seems to be okay if he is asleep when he gets put in the crib but we haven’t quite figured out how to put him in the crib and then go to sleep.

The Best Dog in the World!

I know that anyone who knows me will not be surprised to hear that I LOVE my Sasha dog! She is the best dog! Sasha is a Labrador Retriever crossed with we have no idea what and we also have no clue as to her age. She is a really big girl at 96 lbs. We got Sasha from the Second Chance Animal Rescue Society (www.scars.org) in November 2005 and can hardly remember what life was like before her!

She is such a patient girl with Kellan, it is amazing! The other day Kellan had a hold of her lip and she just looked at him like what are you doing but didn’t snap or growl at him. Sasha also quite often lets Kellan kick her, usually in the head. Kellan loves his Sasha dog too. He will quite often just look at her and smile.

Don’t get me wrong she does have her faults – if we tried harder I think we could probably break her of most of them. Sasha is fearless when it comes to meeting new people and dogs, she hasn’t met anyone that she doesn’t consider her friend. I know that probably doesn’t sound like a bad thing but trust me not everyone loves her as much as she loves them. She also loves to chew on pretty much anything. We were slow learners when we first got her and had to replace many a pair of shoelaces for not just ourselves and our friends and family before we learned to keep the shoes where she couldn’t get at them. She also enjoys eating Celena's bras and will now give Kellan's clothes a "pre-treatment."

The morale of this blog is that if you don't have a dog - go get one it will enrich your life in ways you can't even imagine!

With the exception of women, there is nothing on earth so agreeable or necessary to the comfort of man as the dog. ~Edward Jesse, Anecdote of Dogs

A Very Good Way to Start

So I have been inspired by a few other people's blogs. I figured what the heck why don't I try it? Worse case scenario I'll hate it and it will just never get posted on. I'll do my best to keep it up but sometimes life gets in the way. Right now I don't have all that much going on in my life. I spend my days taking care of Kellan and Sasha and trying rather unsucessfully to keep the house clean. Oh who am I kidding - I don't try that hard to keep the house clean!
